19 mayo 2009 - Africa citrus season is approaching at De Groot

Hedel - The first grapefruits of the new harvest in Zimbabwe have been received. With the first delivery of Star Ruby Grapefruit from Southern Africa the import season has begun. At the moment the sizes 45 and 50 are available. The bigger volumes of the sizes 23, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 shall be received in the coming weeks in open top boxes. The grapefruit already received have a high juice content and a good taste. "It is just good business," according to commercial department at De Groot International. Besides the dark red head variety, De Groot International also has smaller volumes available of the pink variety Ruby Red and the white variety White Marsh (both from Zimbabwe and South Africa).

The first container of Navel oranges from South Africa this year will be sent today. The first volumes will be available in sizes 48, 56, 64 and 72. The have been no problems with the crop during the growing season. Therefore it is expected that the quality will be good and it is a strong product. The Valencias will follow later in the season, as well as other varieties.

The citrus will foremostly be received under the house brand name of Don Mario. From experience with the house brand name from De Groot International the customers expect certain qualities from Don Mario products. The standards that De Groot International puts upon it's own brand are such that they can live up to the high expectations. Thanks to the high product quality that is packed into Don Mario there is a big demand for this strong brand.
